At 2.36pm local time the rand was bid at R8.37 to the dollar.  It was bid at R10.46 to the euro and at R13.04 against sterling.

Bonds mixed in quiet trade

African bonds displayed a mixed bias in midday trade on Friday‚ in what a trader described as a quiet session.

The benchmark R157s were slightly softer and the R207s were a tad firmer.

At 11:50‚ the benchmark R157 bond was trading at 6.345 percent from Thursday’s‚ close of 6.340 percent. The R207 was trading at 7.550 percent from a previous close of 7.565 percent and the R186 was trading at 8.280 percent from its close of 8.305 percent.
