Only a legal challenge will halt the expansion of the Cape Town Convention Centre.
A R700 million tender has been awarded to architects Piet Bakker, Anya Van Der Merwe and Mokena Makeka.
The losing bidders have lodged a formal complaint.
They raised concerns that the previous convention centre chief is married to one of the architects who won the tender.
Current CTICC CEO Rashid Toefy said they have responded to all concerns raised.
“All that National Treasury or that the municipality can do is check that we have followed due process.”
It is also understood the most cost effective bid was not chosen.
Toefy said that is not an issue.
“The winning bidder did not have the lowest fees but at no stage is Convenco required or expected to always appoint the bidder with the lowest price.”
