World Cup 2010 failures
"); document.write("I seriously doubt that the S.A. authorities realise the fantastic marketing opportunities the World Cup 2010 presents! I currently live in the U.K. and in Germany, hosts of the last World Cup, and in both countries the absence of advertising by South Africa is already being commented upon. Does the LOC not know about 'pre World Cup Tourism', or do they think the event sells itself? I know of hundreds of people in the Travel industries of Europe, who receive daily enquiries from people planning to visit S.A. in the period leading up to the World Cup. Does anyone know who I could contact at the LOC to discuss this matter? Suggestions or comments to: dannu@hotmail.co.uk
Thanking you.

"); document.write("Unfortunately this is the kind of mentality you will have to deal with in SA. Nobody in government really wants to get up off there a$$e$$ and do the work, or think up new and innovative ways to advertise. And yes, they do think the event will sell itself, and will sit back and wait for things to just fall in their laps. They will then wake up on number 99, when it is virtually to late.

Most people in SA are just as \"in the dark\" about the SA World Cup as you are. You will struggle to find someone who can name more than 3 cities where matches will take place. They do not know. It's very easy for the informed ones to say \"well go to the websites\", but more than 70% of the people don't have access to the web.

For the most part I believe the WC will go down \"smoothly\" without any major f@$%^-ups. But tourists WILL be mugged, taken advantage of, charged too much, and although this happens in all other countries as well, it will be more evident in SA. Tourists should get ready for a very rough, very typical and very sobering \"African World Cup Safari\". These kind of things won't be that evident to SA citizens (we are used to it), but the rest of the western world will get a little bit of a wake-up call.

As far as contacting someone at the LOC, good luck! No, seriously, good luck! . stef"); document.write("
