The Road Accident Fund (RAF) on Monday said its office in Cape Town is investigating dozens of fraud cases regarding beneficiary payouts.
RAF’s regional manager Jeremy Londt said false documentation and claim reports were submitted with RAF staff members involved.
Londt said they were slowly addressing the issue of fraud within the fund.
“The investigations are ongoing. One can never eradicate corruption, but we seem to have a hand on this situation.”
Over the past 3 years, 84 criminal cases have been investigated involving alleged accident victims and staff members.
Seven people have been found guilty and prosecuted, while 55 cases are still being investigated.
