A recent survey by ThinkMoney.co.za reveals that South African consumers rate Fedhealth as having the best overall service.

This is particularly relevant at a time when most South African consumers are making decisions about whether to switch medical aid plans in 2010.

Over the past two and a half years, ThinkMoney.co.za subscribers have been leaving their feedback on what they think about their own medical aid schemes. The table below shows the twelve most popular medical aids with ThinkMoney.co.za subscribers and how they rate according to service.

Fedhealth came in at the top and scored a healthy 3.99 out of 5 for service. This score was a combination of the best service, best payouts process and best level of cover (for your money), as voted by ThinkMoney.co.za subscribers.

Added to that, 76 percent of those currently with Fedhealth would recommend it to friends and family.

Fedhealth also scored the lowest amount of complaints compared to the rest of the schemes, reinforcing the fact that ThinkMoney.co.za subscribers rate Fedhealth very highly.

Bonitas came in second, with an overall rating of 3.68 out of 5, followed closely by Medihelp, with 3.65 (See below).

Gareth Mountain, General Manager at ThinkMoney.co.za, says: "As South Africans knuckle down and address the annual price increases of their existing medical aid plans, it?s worth bearing in mind that the service your medical aid offers you is just as important, if not more so, than the price."
