Sanral and the Justice Department are considering creating special courts to deal with non-paying e-toll motorists in Gauteng.
According to a Beeld report, Sanral had specifically asked for the creation of such a court.
Sanral has confirmed that the Criminal Procedure Act would be used to prosecute people who failed to pay for e-tolls. Motorists would reportedly receive fines by registered mail which could lead to court summonses.
According to Sanral spokesperson Vusi Mona, if the first debt collecting process failed, a final notice would be issued and and the matter would be handed over to the prosecuting authority.
