Friday brought good news for motorists who had been feeling the brunt of several petrol price increases over the past few months.
From Wednesday, motorists would be paying between 19 to 20 cents less per litre of petrol.
The Energy Department also announced that the price of diesel would decrease by two cents a litre, while illuminating paraffin was going down by five cents a litre.
Economist Chris Hart welcomed the news.
“People who need to get to work and back have really been under an enormous amount of pressure, so this will take at least a little bit of the edge off the pressure of inflation,” said Hart.
