Farm union TAU-SA's president wants land claimants to produce proof that land they have laid claimed to was taken from them.
"Any claimants to land are challenged to submit documented evidence so that such claims could be evaluated by experts and historians in accordance to international guidelines and practices," Louis Meintjes was quoted as saying in a Fin24 report.
"None of our members nor other farmers in the country stole their land," the TAU-SA president said.
"We obtained our title deeds legally and therefore we do not owe anybody an apology for owning and cultivating our land for the benefit of the whole country."
The union reportedly adopted a resolution at its annual general congress wanting documented proof from land claimants laying claims to land.
The farming union also wanted to take legal action against the government for failing to maintain healthy water standards.
