Harmony Gold management on Wednesday postponed the resumption of its operations to review the state of its Kusasalethu mine near Carletonville.
Operations were expected to resume from Thursday but employees were told not to come back yet.
Hostels also remained closed.
The mine closed down on several occasions during December due to wildcat strikes and violence erupting between rival unions.
Harmony Gold spokesperson Marian van der Walt said they were reviewing the effect of these stoppages.
"Management has taken a decision to first review the financial and operational implications of the stoppages during December."
In December, the miners held a sit-in to demand salary increases.
