A sensitive negotiation process has set back United Kingdom airline Fastjet from operating in South Africa this festive season.
But liquidation company, Tshwane Trust, said they were confident liquidated low-budget airline 1time's planes will be flying in 2013.
A provisional agreement was signed between Fastjet and recently bankrupted 1time airlines in November.
According to Tshwane Trust's liquidator Aviwe Ndyamara, the negotiations are going well, but several organisations still have to sign off on the deal.
“We’re talking about the Civil Aviation Authority, the Air Licencing Council, the Department of Transport and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange requirements [before the deal is complete].”
Fastjet will be able to confidently announce when the local airline will reopen by the return date for the liquidation papers for 1time, he said.
The return date is set at the February 27, 2013.
