A Jordanian banker, who claimed to have had R2-million stolen from his hotel room safe, has now left the country but says he will be back soon.
Farid Alshabbar claimed the cash was stolen from the safe in his room at the Holiday Inn in Sandton nearly two weeks ago.
One man was arrested but police are still hunting for the main suspect.
Alshabbar was forced to leave the country due to the expiry of his visa but his lawyer Ian Levitt says he will be back in a fortnight.
"He's attending to other business outside the country and has advised that he should back within the next two weeks," says the lawyer.
Levitt says he was keeping a close eye on the police investigation and the hunt for the main suspect, who is believed to be a senior security official from the hotel.
"My instructions are to monitor the investigation every step of the way."
A hotel porter found in possession of some of the stolen euros was released on bail.
Customs officials also looked into the fact that the banker had not declared the foreign currency.
