Lawyers for former Auction Alliance boss Rael Levitt have failed to appear in the Western Cape High Court on Thursday.

Levitt, who is believed to be travelling abroad, has been summoned to appear before the National Consumer Commission by no later than 4 May.

It is understood his lawyers were going to launch an application to have the summons set aside.

When the presiding judge read out the court roll, Levitt’s lawyers were nowhere to be seen.

It is not clear what will happen next.

The Cape Town company has already been found guilty for contravening the Consumer Protection Act for its role in the Quoin Rock Estate matter.
