South Africa's Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan on Tuesday took one of the strongest stances yet from a Cabinet Minister in SA to rubbish talk that SA should nationalise its mines.
During an interview on CNN, he said there was "no merit" to arguments put forward by former youth league leader Julius Malema to nationalise mines.
"There are many other ways to achieve growth and social inclusivity than the route this young man was putting forward," he said.
Malema has been expelled from the party and on Tuesday was awaiting the outcome of an appeal against that ruling. Media reports were holding that it the expulsion was expected to be upheld.
