The Independent Labour Caucus (ILC) and Cosatu are expected to meet on Wednesday to discuss the government's wage offer to public servants.

The ILC would only take a final decision on whether to accept last month's pay offer to public servants on October 13, when the deadline to do so expires, spokesman Chris Klopper said in a statement on Monday.

"At this stage, all indications are that a majority of unions that are prepared to sign the agreement will not be achieved easily. It will only be possible to make a final determination on 13 October."

There was some confusion over the deadline. Public service spokesman Dumisani Nkwamba said it fell on October 12. The ILC however said October 13.

The SA Democratic Teachers Union has said it would not accept the revised offer of 7.6 percent and an R800 housing allowance. But they would not go on strike again.

Public servants went on a three-week-long strike recently to secure an increase of 8.6 percent and R1000 per month for housing.
