Jobs, economic growth, and poverty reduction are the priorities for the Mpumalanga provincial cabinet legkotla on Saturday, the premier's office said.
"This lekgotla will pay much attention on programmes aimed at accelerating job creation, economic growth, and the reduction of poverty and inequalities in the province," said the office of the premier in a statement. According to the statement, provincial premier David Mabuza said these priorities would be addressed by tackling education, health and rural development.'State machinery needs repair'
Mabuza also discussed service delivery. "The premier pointed out that if service delivery is to be accelerated, the state machinery will have to be shaped up. Public servants who are not prepared to serve our people have to shape up or ship out." Last year, several municipalities in Mpumalanga were rocked by service delivery protests. "The government will have to change the pace the way service delivery has been delivered to the people and this year we will try harder to speed up service delivery." said Mabuza. "Mpumalanga province shall not be the same again."Sapa
