The retail price of petrol will rise next week, the energy department said on Friday.
The price of all grades of petrol will increase in price by 27 cents a litre. The wholesale price of diesel with a 0.05 percent sulphur content will rise by 25 cents a litre. Diesel with a 0.005 percent sulphur content will increase in price by 26 cents a litre.
The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin will rise by 29 cents a litre and the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will increase by 39 cents a litre.
According to the energy department, from 30 October to 26 November, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased.
"The average rand/dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period."
The department said the average rand/dollar exchange rate for the October 30 to November 26 was 7.5722 compared to 7.4988 during the previous period.
A litre of petrol ULP 95 will now cost R7.92 per litre in Gauteng.
