Concerns have been raised that a difference of opinion between the African National Congress and its youth league on the nationalisation of mines might have a negative impact on foreign investors.
Youth league leader Julius Malema is locked in a war of words with Deputy Transport Minister and Communist Party General Secretary Jeremy Cronin after he critisised Malema's calls to nationalise underground operations.
The youth league leader has in turn likened Cronin to a white messiah and is being asked to apologise by the communist party and the young communist league but political analyst Nic Borain said the ANC and its youth league must find common ground the nationalisation issue before they damage the economy.
"Malema is a powerful ANC politician. Who do you believe and what is okay to be said. I think debate is great but we have a situation where there is a deeply insecure uncertain future," said Borain.
