Office hours have been extended ahead of tax season deadline, the SA Revenue Service said on Monday.

Sars branches would be open from 7am to 6pm from Monday until Friday — an extra three hours per day during which taxpayers could receive free assistance, it said in a statement.

Some would be open until 7pm, depending on volumes.

20 November is the deadline for electronic submission of tax returns.

The contact centre would extend its operating hours to 8pm.

To date Sars had received three million returns, nearly 700 000 more compared to the same period last year.
