Former Eskom chairperson Bobby Godsell had no comment to make following Eskom's announcement clarifying the position of former chief executive officer Jacob Maroga.

On Thursday, Eskom held a media briefing at which it said that Maroga was no longer chief executive officer at Eskom.

This followed a power struggle between Maroga and Godsell which resulted in their twin resignations.

"Mr Godsell told me that he has no further comment to make and I haven't heard from him since, so things have not changed," said his personal assistant Liz van Niekerk.

At Thursday's briefing, Eskom's acting chairperson Mpho Makwana was asked if Godsell would return to the board.

Makwana said it was Godsell's right to withdraw his resignation, "but this would have to be resolved between Godsell and the shareholder (government)."
