There is still no word from Eskom's board on how it is going to move forward after Chairperson Bobby Godsell resigned on Monday.
The board's acting chairperson Mpho Makwana said a statement would be released on Tuesday afternoon.
Political momentum appears to be building behind Godsell with both Cosatu and the National Union of Mineworkers saying they regret his resignation.
Both Eskom and government officials are keeping their cards close to their chests.
It is possible Tuesday's statement could relate to whether the board members will stay on.
It is also understood Jacob Maroga has not appeared in his office on Tuesday and the board may have something to say about his position.
Meanwhile, Num General Secretary Frans Baleni agreed with Cosatu when it said Godsell was not a racist.
"Indeed it is a loss, even that he has retired he had time and he has a broad knowledge of assisting Eskom and the country," he said.
Baleni added race should not be brought into a dispute.
