Higher Education Minister, and the South African Communist Party?s general secretary, Blade Nzimande said on Monday black economic empowerment may still represent a type of colonialism.

He was talking at the 50th anniversary of the launch of the African Communist magazine.

Nzimande said he agreed that apartheid was a colonisation of a special type that may be continued under BEE.

"Isn't black economic empowerment today also representative of a type of relationship between sections of the white bourgeoisie and the emerging black bourgeoisie?" said the minister.
