The South African Revenue Services says people late with manual submissions need not worry.
Sars said they would assist taxpayers in turning their submissions into an electronic copy if they missed Friday's deadline.
People who are late have until the 20 November to submit their returns electronically without any penalties.
Sars Adrian Lackay said, "If you can't make it to the Sars office by 18 September, you have another window period of nearly two months to come to Sars. We will capture your information for you without penalties for late submissions."
