Telkom has revised its 7.5 percent wage offer to eight percent, said the Communication Workers Union on Friday.
Spokesperson Pheane Ramoadi said the revised offer came after Telkom met with the union late on Thursday evening in a bid to end an ongoing strike by its workers.
Ramoadi said the union would now also consider cancelling a planned march in Pretoria for next Tuesday.
He added that the final decision to cancel next Tuesday's march would be made after CWU had discussed the new offer with its members.
He said before Telkom decided to meet with CWU, workers had reverted to demanding a 13 percent wage increase and the adjustment of "racially classified' salary grades.
Workers had initially demanded a 13 percent increase but they settled for 7.5 percent if Telkom first altered salary scales.
Ramoadi had previously said that white employees dominated higher salary scales, while those on lower scales were black.
Ramoadi had also said if the offer was acceptable the workers would go back to work, otherwise the strike would continue.
On the Tuesday of 4 August the union gave Telkom three days to respond to its demands.
