The search was continuing on Monday night for seven mineworkers missing after a fall of ground at Impala Platinum's Rustenburg mine, the company said.

Two mineworkers died in the fall of ground at 14 Shaft earlier on Monday.

"There's no further information at this stage... we'll issue a statement as soon as there's new information," spokesman Bob Gilmour said.

He said proto teams were searching for the missing workers.
