Cabinet described last week's meeting of the World Economic Forum on Africa which took place in Cape Town as a success, creating a valuable platform for political business, labour and community leaders on the continent to discuss the global economic meltdown.
"Discussions ranged from the energy challenges to job losses," cabinet
spokesman Themba Maseko told a media briefing on Thursday. "Africa was
tipped to benefit from the investments that would come with the hosting of
the 2010 Fifa World Cup."
South Africa's interaction with other world leaders will continue with
President Jacob Zuma's participation in forthcoming multilateral forums such
as the African Union summit in Libya at the start of next month, the G8
summit in Italy immediately following, and the resumption of the World Trade
Organisation round of negotiations.
