Momentum will expand it business to Swaziland, the insurance operating subsidiary of FirstRand group said on Wednesday.

"The launch of this operation is yet another initiative undertaken by Momentum which underpins our well-established footprint in Africa," Gerhardt van der Merwe, MD of Momentum Africa said.

He added that Momentum was now represented in 11 African countries, including South Africa.

"Momentum currently administers over 650 000 healthcare lives across Africa, with operations in South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Mauritius, Malawi, Namibia and now Swaziland," Van der Merwe noted.

As part of its service offering, Momentum would introduce both life and health products into Swaziland, he said.
