Gauteng Premier Paul Mashatile will lead a provincial delegation on a six-day visit to the United Arab Emirates to attract investment, his department said on Friday.

The delegation would be in the UAE from January 11 to 16 to promote Gauteng as an "attractive destination for international investment," his spokesperson Percy Mthimkhulu said in a statement.

"It is important for Gauteng to market itself in the Gulf region, as it was not badly affected by the global financial crisis."

He said the Gulf states were looking for stable economies to invest in and South Africa and Gauteng had to reach out to these potential investors.
