The rand pulled back against major currencies in noon trade on Friday as the dollar gained strength ahead of next weeks G20 summit in London.

At 12.30pm the local unit was bid at 9.5477 against the greenback from its previous close of 9.3425.

The rand was bid at 12.7960 against the euro from its previous close of 12.6519.

Against sterling the rand was bid at 13.6564 from its previous close of 13.5039.

Gold was quoted $926.68 a troy ounce.
