The rand remained steady and range bound against major currencies in noon trade on Monday boosted by European equities which recuperated in early morning trade.

At 12.42pm the local unit was bid at 10.2451 against the greenback from its previous close of 10.2474.

The rand was bid at 13.2658 against the euro from its previous close of 13.2296.

Against sterling the rand was bid at 14.1054 from its previous close of 14.0192.

Gold was quoted $905.31 a troy ounce.
