Eskom has reached an agreement with the Coal Transporters' Forum over how much coal the forum should transport for it, the power utility said on Tuesday.
"We are pleased that issues have been amicably resolved, with both parties committing to an ongoing mutually beneficial relationship underpinned by our desire to ensure the security of power supply to the country," leader of the Eskom delegation, Brian Dames was quoted in a statement as saying.
This followed a protest by coal transporters on 17 April at Eskom's head office in Sunninghill. Truck owners said Eskom had reneged on coal transport agreements in favour of big companies.
Forum chairman Teboho Joala said at the time: "We are supposed to be getting paid on tonnage. Eskom has reduced our tonnage, thereby rendering our businesses almost insolvent."
On Tuesday Joala said his organisation had "come a long way" with Eskom. He hoped picket action would never be a necessary to get the parastatal's attention again.
