Two major contracts in Nambia, amounting to a total value of one billion, rand have been awarded to JSE-listed Raubex, the road construction company said on Monday.

The contracts covered the rebuilding and tarring of two sections of road between Nkurenkuru and Elundu in the Kavango region of northern Namibia for the Namibian Roads Authority, Raubex said.

Work is expected to commence in May 2009 and will run for a period of approximately two years.

"The road is a major artery for the transport of goods between Namibia and Angola," the statement said.
