The power utility had initiated engagements with stakeholders on the integrated delivery programme. It would respond to the cost base reduction Nersa required and boost productivity to achieve a price path for long-term cost savings and business sustainability.
Further, Eskom would develop a business model to underpin an efficient and effective high performance utility, and define its strategy to ensure focus on a long-term, affordable price of electricity.
Mr Adams said Eskom’s board had appointed a high-level executive to lead a team of specialists tasked with developing and implementing this programme.
There was no point in telling Nersa and Eskom to sit down and work out their differences," he said. "We have agreed to disagree. What we are (talking to) Nersa about is what our common objective is and how we can get there."
